“I have been boarding at Academy Stables for over a year now. I do not take lessons from Jillian but have seen her on a few occasions both giving lessons and working with the children in the camps and she is great. If she had any fault it would be her devotion to safety but as she is sometimes working with 5 and 6 year olds, its pretty difficult to fault her for wanting those kids to be safe. There were a few riders out at the stables a few months ago that were, in my opinion, fairly reckless but I have not seen them and have never been in an arena when they were riding (was a little worried to do so to be quite frank). The Barn Manager, Jeff, helped me work with my horse to get him calmer and more responsive under saddle. He knows more about horses and horse care and the training of horses than most anyone I have ever spoken with. He also gives the horses their vaccinations and dresses and takes care of any wounds that, as a horse owner, we know are all to common with any horse at any facility or property. I can honestly say that if Jeff and the stable Hand (Raul) were not taking the care for my horse, I would probably seek out another barn as the individuals that were managing the barn prior to Jeff and Jillian coming aboard did not exactly exude a high level of confidence. In any event, I highly recommend Academy Stables as it is the cleanest and best managed facility I have ever seen (and in my many years I have seen several). The heated indoor arena is going to be done in December (according to their website) and there is always plenty of space to ride and work with your horse. The boarding fees are lower than any facility in the area (any "quality facility") and the care and safety of the staff is second to none.”
